What was your inspiration?

I love whimsical vintage style. The coffee cups on this fabric just made me happy. I made the curtains reversible because they face my driveway. The exterior fabric is a cheerful retro green print with gridmarks and polka dots.

What are you most proud of?

I'm glad I went with this print, even though it is pretty bold. It really helped me decide to go with this strong color palette for future projects in the kitchen and breakfast nook.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If I were to do this project over again, I would have made the panels a little wider. I didn't want them to gather a lot, but if you start on the more narrow side of things, you can't make them wider. Start wider because you can always cut them down.

cute cute cute. I used a VERY FREAKIN' bold supersized rainbow check for my kitchen and breakfast nook windows. Both are just valences so our eyes wouldn't burn out while we had siezures from looking at the print. Making just valences added the right amount of color and texture that I wanted, something very colorful and south of the border. LOVE the retro coffee cups!

Hey bunnyribbon, I'd love to see those valances and other pics of your kitchen and breakfast nook. We just moved into our house this summer, so I'm looking for inspiration.

Sweet curtains, LOVE the fabric. Where did you get the fabric? I can think of one hundred things to make with it.

Whoops! Anyway, I got the fabric at Jo-Ann Fabric. It's from the Metro Cafe line.
