What was your inspiration?
My scrap bins were starting to take over my life last winter, and I was itching to do another Group Project through my blog. I combined these factors, drew up a block with exactly ONE matching point, and asked quilters from all over the country to make four blocks for me, one of which I would keep, the other three I would shuffle amongst the participants and send back as "quilt seed" for a KS quilt of their own. The response was so great I ended up with two group quilts, the white and bright cover version, and the beige and brights "Kickin' it in October" version.
What are you most proud of?
That every single participant (more than 30 in all) raved about this block. I've never had such an overwhelming response by testers or group quilt participants and it was amazing.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Roll in your scraps naked for the last time. This project is going to kick them right out of your studio and into an amazing quilt!
