What was your inspiration?

My husband requested a king size bed quilt for Christmas using as many Christmas fabrics from my collection as possible. I also collect and create embroidery designs, digitize pieced blocks in the hoop, digitize crazy patches, and quilting designs. This quilt combined all these different elements. The backing utilized over 1100 2" squares to create the 9 patch blocks. Fabric is very expensive in Switzerland, $19-$27 a meter. Friends and family send me fabric or I buy it on sale whenever I can. It's generally in pieces of 1 yard or less. This plan was the most economical way to make a quilt of this size. Very labor intensive.

What are you most proud of?

That I actually did it and the backing is straight with all those seams.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Plan, plan, plan and have a very big area to lay it out during the entire process of construction.
