Altered Jelly roll baby quilt

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quilting Quickly: Patterns, Techniques & Tips »

Instructions

I added firetruck backing because Dad is a fireman, I cut some trucks out of the extra fabric and machine embroidered them on the front of the quilt for interest.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Infant/Baby

Style: Casual

Materials

Cotton layer cakes, cotton jelly rolls, cotten flannel backing

What was your inspiration?

The "boy" who used to live next door always dug my car out, shoveled my driveway, and helped me in many ways over the years. He now is a volunteer fireman and has a new baby boy. I wanted something to honor the dad and be fun far a baby so I found a nice truck fabric for the backing and accents on the front.

What are you most proud of?

I finally finished it and baby is only 3..5 months old.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It would be better probably to not mix regular cotton and flannel -I ended up with wrinkles in the back.

How wonderful...a great way to show your appreciation to this family and I am sure you loved every minute of the work. Wrinkles? Who cares. It's a wonderful quilt. I have a thing for firemen too. My Dad was a volunteer in the small town I grew up in......a million years ago. And my grandfather on Mother's side was a full time fireman with a horse drawn wagon, if you can believe it
