Blarney Bainin Traditional Oiled Irish Wool

What was your inspiration?

My very Irish friend was having her second baby and I wanted something that fit with their traditions.

What are you most proud of?

I learned to make popcorn stitches!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Check gauge. It worked up a little larger than I expected.

The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn and a G (6) hook. Your aran yarn might be too chunky to hit gauge, which is 4 hdc/inch. Row gauge is 3 rows/inch. I would definitely swatch for gauge, and if you're too big, move down a hook size until you get it, Or change out your yarn for a finer weight.

How much yarn did you use? I seem to be having difficulty figuring that out!

The patten calls for 835 yards, but I don't know how much of it I used. I used a yarn I had in stash rather than the yarn specified on the pattern, which was in smaller sized balls than what's called for. Sorry I'm not much help there!
