What was your inspiration?
This quilt was a high school graduation gift for a young woman who had been my student in middle school, and more importantly my daughter's best friend. Megan is a special friend of our whole family, and I wanted her to know how much she is loved. The hearts seemed a great way to express our love, and the wild colors reflect Megan's lively spirit.
What are you most proud of?
This was my first fusible applique project, so I was pleased with how well the applique turned out. Also, my daughter helped me pick out the fabrics, and we both were very happy with how well the colors went together in the finished quilt.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The sashing between the blocks is pieced with a diagonal seam. You have to look closely at the photo to see this. I think I would have been more adventurous in mixing the colors in the sashing if I had it to do over.
