Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Women

Style: Romantic, Cute, Classic, Traditional, Outdoorsy, Casual

Materials

white cake, marshmallow fondant, buttercream frosting, gum paste, floral tape and wire, oreos

What was your inspiration?

Mom loves flowers and blue is her favorite color, so it was n easy pick as to what type f cake to make her. The cake is 3 layers high. I used a 6" pan for the bottom, 6 1/2" for thr middle, and 7" for the top. I then trimed them down to the pot shape. I used crushed up oreos for the dirt.

What are you most proud of?

This was my second time making sugar flowers. I'm happy with the results.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

You will need a Lot more flowers then you think!

I put a little ball of gum paste on the wire end then inserted the wire into the bottom of flower from the bottom up with out going through. I then set the flower a side and left it dry over night. The next day flowers were stiff and the flowers stayed on the wire. a few did let go with to much movement so I just used gum paste glue to soften the flower and restick to the wire. Hope that helps:-) And thanks for the great compliment:-)
