What was your inspiration?
The books of course were my inspiration. I wore this to the movie when I went.
What are you most proud of?
I just loved the way this necklace turned out. The pocket watch case was the perfect foundation for the Mockingjay pin. The brass colors were a perfect match and the blue background behind the bird pin really made it pop out from the watch case.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I audition the placement of each element for pieces like this. I often take photos and view them on my computer and see which please my eye the best. You can also leave the room and come back and view it
with fresh eyes too. When working with metal I like E6000 the best as an adhesive. It really holds metal very well. NOTE: it dries slow - don't rush it. The watch case was taken apart to add the blue background behind the pin. I chose an aluminum disk and colored it with ink to get the bright blue background then inserted it into the watch case. The brass chain is also a perfect match.
