What was your inspiration?
the table cloth my husband's grandmother made us many years ago
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I found 2 sets of cloth napkins (brand new) in a 2nd hand store. As we always have more than 4 for Christmas, I figured if I did the same design on 2 different color napkins, at least they will look like they are in the same set! It worked out great, and everyone complimented on them. Also, I use the extra ones for small table covers, or "doilies" for candles or Christmas decorations, etc.
