What was your inspiration?
My sister-in-law lives in Australia and returned to Scotland for her 50th birthday celebrations. I wanted to make her something that demonstrated her family ties. I had previous researched my husband's family tree. I used her female lineage and embroidered the maiden names of the her female antecedents going back seven generations.
I found out her favourite colours are purples. I chose these shades with the bright Australian sunshine in mind.
What are you most proud of?
I designed it myself.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I would not use a Jelly roll if I did the project again as I was not happy with the size of the quarter triangles. I would use yardage instead.
