What was your inspiration?

Both male and female Native American dancers carry fans. The shield the eyes from the sun, cool off your face after competing, and are used to honor other folks.

This was for my Granddaughter's first Pow-wow.She is two. It was made to match her outfit. (which,I also made) (more to come infuture.).

What are you most proud of?

My Granddaughter! (silly question!) This project was made from materials that I have had on hand for years. Beads, white buckskin, a wooden spoon.

The only thing I bought was a package of # 13 beading needles.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Think about it for 10 to 15 years. Look on the web and go to some Pow-wows. Look at some of the newer books on Native American beadwork.. Look for "Gourd stich and/or peyote beadwork" at your local library.
