Kate Spains Good Fortune line plus another cotton border with no label.

What was your inspiration?

Susan Briscoe's pattern and the fact that I had some of the Good Forturne fabric that seemed to be perfect for the project.

What are you most proud of?

How the border makes it really stand out. I could not find a true Japanese stripe fabric as is used by Susan but I was pleased that the shirting stripe I found gives the same effect. I was pleased to have quilted it myself but realize I have a lot of practice to do before I can say I am proud of the quilting!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

fabric choice is probably the key if you want to try for the same look as Susan's quilt .

Super busy too - sometimes I don't know why. Finally got the cast off my wrist so playing catch up with BOM and hope to have a friend take some pix for me. Have been sweating the hexi free style, spent months it seems on choices, design and hope to finish soon. It's nothing that special for all the time I have spent. I'm just being supper fussy - a trait hard to live with. I have a couple of redos to do play with, but am otherwise complete. I am very low on background, so I had to reuse a couple of triangles on a repair. It would have been easier to make a whole new block! But I was happier in the end, as the colors needed adjustment.... I loved the August Stars - my favorites so far. Glad all is well, looking forward to your postings. Congrats on the wedding and activities. Thanks for bringing me up to date

planning to start watching Kaye England's class soon. I have it, just need some down time. I like to watch before I quilt. Perhaps you can throw me some suggestions for fabrics, workign with my stash. Size, color, that kind of thing, to get the civil war look....not too well versed and know Kaye will set me straight. I think to day is going to be a play with fabric day, if I can find the kitchen table. It's muggy here and going to get worse, so I think I shall play!!!

Hi. look on the site fat quarter shop-they usually have tons of civil war fabrics as does keepsake quilting. I seem to have picked up stuff from all of these sites.
