Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Thread Art »

Difficulty:

Category: Other

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Unisex

Style: Classic, Romantic

Materials

cotton fabric, batting, colored pencils, textile medium, markers, black thread,Varigated green thread

What was your inspiration?

Lola's class on thread painting. It was how she did the eyes. i have so wanted to add this dimension to my quilting. Lola, thank you for taking the time to share this.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the fact that I actually decided to do "Girl With the Pearl Earring" and just follow directions (for once). The results I got doing the eyes just blew me away. I can't wait to do other projects.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The way Lola teaches this class was so easy to follow. I just watched the whole lesson first taking a few notes then went back and did it. Just jump in and go.

The eyes are so real. You did it. Boy the coloring is FANTASTIC. Wow. I just cannot find words to express my feeling about this. The background, the setting, brings it all together. You out did yourself. This is great....just great. Keep up the work. You got talent.

Thank you so much for your comments! When I saw how you used the colored pencils it was similiar to when I did a lot of "Artex" painting. Those were tubes with paint in them with roller ball to dispense paint. Worked like a ball point pen. I would hold a plastic blender to work the paint into the fabric.

Right now I am negotiating with several offers of DSL so I can do more online. It has been awful. You will see me more involved after this.
