Instructions

I made this blanket in these colors because this is the colors of my brand new little cousin's nursery. It is mixed up of all different shapes and these colors. The baby's mommy has always liked jungle themed items, and I couldn't find a solid brown or cream dark or light enough to work, so I went with a giraffe pattern. It was the softest blanket I have ever felt. I made it the same on both ...

What was your inspiration?

My inspiration was my cousin's bedding Here is a link to it: http://www.toysrus.com/product/prodpop.jsp?LargeImageURL=http%3A//TRUS.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pTRU1-5144081dt.jpg&displayTab=enh&productId=3243171&totCount=0

It was hard to figure out what to do to match that, but then I found out she had hung up to giraffe pictures right after I bought the giraffe material, so I figured it would be okay! Whew!

What are you most proud of?

I'm proud of my cousin. She and her husband will make wonderful parents and I'm SO HAPPY for them. The blanket turned out super soft and I hope they get YEARS of comfort out of it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

make sure you back ALL FUZZY MATERIAL with tear away paper/stabilizer because if you do not, it may not feed through the sewing machine straight and it will distort your blanket. This is a pain, but the only way to make it look right in the end.

Cute! It looks like you have room to sew. I live in an park model at 400 sq ft. I have no room to sew but a closet. I have to sell all my quilting stuff off. My studio cost me $30,000. It is in bins. Now I crochet and knit. What a shock to have it all gone. Oh well....string is fun too. :)

I hate to hear you lost your sewing space! I have psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia pretty severely, so my sewing room space now has a twin bed in it. I just sew at the kitchen table if I decide to do a little project here and there. I don't sew much anymore. I did 9 projects for the entire year of 2011.
