What materials did you use? jelly roll strips

Nice job! Did you use a different line on the ruler, or perhaps, the 4" line on a HST tool that is not the Omnigrid brand? Your trapezoids are a different proportion from the ones I demonstrated in the class. Like I said in the class, what size you choose is completely your decision in order to achieve your desired results. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to seeing more from you.

I didn't have the same ruler, and actually the ruler I had was an Olfa shaped like a trapezoid: one end straight with the other at an angle. I used the 4" line I thought mine looked different. Also, I didn't have the contrast in the blue strips I would have liked in the pile scraps which is what I used. This was my practice one. I practiced straight lines around the border with decorative stitching on the edge. I stitched in the ditch around the darker braid edge, and practiced free motion pebbles to fill in the light. But I had already done the binding before I decided to do this, so with the variety of quilting stitches it came out wavy. I used it on the TV table in the grandchildren's bonus room. I'll try to post a pic. Now that I have learned all these lessons I will cut strips from some of my yardage or buy a new jelly roll just for a quilt with braids.

Oh, and I wish I hadn't used the variegated thread after I finished. Live and learn.

Applause! Applause, SSimpson! More people should take the time to practice and learn lessons on a small sample and gain confidence for larger projects. I am proud of you.
