French bedside chests

Before...

Instructions

I bought these chests some years ago but after redecorating, they sat in my garage for a couple of years. I decided to give them a refurb and gave them two coats of primer & undercoat before painting them white, touching up the relief with a gold paste called 'Goldfinger' in old gold which you apply with a fingertip.

Difficulty:

Category: Other

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Romantic, Whimsical, Classic, Retro / Vintage

Materials

All surface primer & undercoat, satin paint in 'aged white', gold paste

What was your inspiration?

French boudoir

What are you most proud of?

I love that the new paint finish shows the lovely detail on these chests - they look really romantic!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Preparation is the key when painting something dark a lighter colour; give the item a couple of coats of undercoat - it may seem a drag but you'll achieve a better quality finish

Thank you but I sold them; we changed decor and the boudoir has gone but the lady who bought them loves them!
