What was your inspiration?
I saw this on the Bernina Blog. And I have a lot of students who have great machines and know nothing about their feet. I have a collection of feet that I use - and the right foot makes sewing a lot easier.
I used the Bernina information as a start but my group has come up with their own ideas. Plus, they all have different machines, so the feet are all a little different.
The participants are creating a page the shows what each foot can do; they create samples and the sew those samples to their felt pages.
What are you most proud of?
I started this as a monthly class in my studio (Sew You Can). And it's really taken off. I didn't know what to expect, but the group has really gotten into it. They actually do homework and come to our club meetings with a bunch of ideas!
They've worked on their covers and are now adding pages. We talked about making a page of vinyl pockets to put notes in - so when the page is open, and shows the sample, the other page has visible notes.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be afraid to experiment!
