Quilting: Folded Fabric Trivet (Hot Pad)

Folded Fabric Trivet (Hot Pad)

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Cute

Materials

100% cotton and Insul Brite

What was your inspiration?

I got a similar trivet at a bazaar and copied it.

What are you most proud of?

After several tries I got this one to work.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is very similar to the ornaments that I made, which I found on youtube.com. There is probably a video for this, or you could follow the instructions for the ornament but do it on the flat rather than a ball.

there is a link on the Moda Bakeshop site to create a folded star - It has more folds but the concept is the same: Here is the link: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2011/09/fancy-folded-star-pot-holder.html

Marianna2011, thanks for this info. I have this pattern and want to try Moda's version. It is beautiful and much more complicated than the one I did. I will try it when I have some real quiet thinking time.

It really only looks difficult. Just take your time and have patience. If things don't stay in place use a bit of glue.

Great design! The folder star is so versatile for pot pads, place mats, Christmas ornaments. Just change the color scheme and they will fit lovingly into any decor. Thanks

Very nice. There is a pattern for this - I thought it was called the folded Star but am not sure - always wanted to try it but haven't gotten around to it yet - maybe just maybe you've insipired me to give this one a try. Colors are pretty!

I like it! It would make a fun project that could be a gift for someone special. Everyone could use a pretty hot pad.
