590 yards of Rowan Pure Wool 4ply 4.5mm circular needles

What was your inspiration?

I really love birds and I was looking for a shawl that could represent a birds wing. I couldn't find one so I made my own!

What are you most proud of?

I really love the stitch pattern of the lace. I started from scratch and designed it myself. I couldn't decide between rows of smaller feathers or a single row of large feathers, so I was really pleased when I found a way to combine the two.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The cast on is pretty long, so use stitch markers every 25 or 50 stitches - it'll help a lot to keep you on track! Every row of feathers in slightly narrower so it does get faster as you go!
