I wanted to make one for my guy too--thot I would use a thick, tweedy yarn & Make-1 increases instead of Yarnovers, but he only wants pullovers, darn. This one is great!<<<
I was thinking the same thing; there's no reason that this same idea cannot be treated as a pullover as easily as a cardi. Just re-think the math and work as though the pieces are already joined (whether as a V-neck or Crew) as one across the front. Then the only increases will be at the armscye.
Thank you. Being my first sweater at first why did I take on a task like this? After having help from Myra and my wife Lisa made it possible. I liked the fit and style. A big deal because I'm not one for sweaters.
I am looking forward to see some of your work. I have a couple of lace shawls being worked on. One is done and drying after blocking...Learning to read charts. The second is just started. Have some math to work out. But it has promise. (trying to stick to the pattern is hard for me not used to it. I tend to go freeform and create. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. So restart when things do not look nice.
Thank -you, It was my first sweater. My wife said I should have started with a simpler one, but didn't listen. It turned out ok. This is the male version . If I do another for a lady it will have lace and shaping . But will let my wife take the measurements. Overall a great learning experience.
It's great to see a guy knitting! I taught one of my three sons to knit. He lasted for 2 inches and then gave up. He said it was too boring. My other two sons didn't want to learn to knit, and I think the first son only let me teach him out of pity that I had no daughters to teach. You're doing great. Loved your bathmat, too. :)
Thank-you, You have opened many doors for me. Now I can add lace for the ladies, a hood even pockets.Did you see the pictures of the bathmat and lace shawl I did? Want to ask about doing a chart on the shawl, but I knit starting a small area How can i expand it when I increase.? Will try it doing a small 4, 6 and ect patterns. I'll work it out and send pictures. (What would your hubby think about a sweater like this one? (Keep up your fantastic works. Can I ask if you can be my mentor?)
How fun that you and your wife knit together. It sounds like your styles complement one another, as well. Having no fear is a great quality in knitting. Something that has really helped me is having no fear of "frogging" or ripping back... I try to pass that on to others I'm teaching. I just love to knit and I want to be happy with what I make. Say "hi" to your wife. Esther
I'm not sure how/where to answer your question "what do you knit?"... you replied to my comment. Anyway, I knit everything I can find time for: hats, sweaters, cowls, mitts, shawls, toys for grandkids, etc. Does your wife knit, too... I can't talk my husband into it... he's sure he'd have a panic attack. Well, I'm so glad you enjoy it. (I have a bolero on the project page...I haven't started the full length sweater yet because I don't have the yarn for it... soon, though, I hope.) Keep up the great work.
My wife knits and has for over 30 years. Yes you answered my question looks like you are a well rounded knitter. I am a new knitter of 2-3 years Lisa, my wife says I have no fear and questions my color choice at times. I am not one to read patterns (unless I have too) Most to the time a tape measure and row counter and post it pads are my tools .
Thank you. My wife took the picture. I tend to stay behind the camera and take pictures of others. It's comfy and will keep me warm Kind of like simple things. What do you knit?
it:))) Congratulation on your first sweater!
About 20 years ago. I was knitting this sweater to be worn to a party. I was so, worried I couldn't finish it on time. One of my male friend said. "I can help knit you the sleeves and you will wear it" and I did
I can never forget that moment of my life...
You are blessed with such good friends. I know that knitters help each other out. I am still learning and ask many questions and value the people that do crafts. Each is so talented and a joy to talk and trade stories
Well, your Husband is there and helping you. I love going to yarn shops with my wife. Get to see and feel good yarns. Plus talk to knitters and get good tips on how to's . I also pick out colors that are wilder than she does.Slowly getting a stash of my own. I'm a yarn have addiction. Can anyone help me.lol...
Congratulation! For a first sweater, you did a fabulous job. Further congratulation for being a guy knitter. We all need creative outlets. I am trying to interest my husband because it is great way to zone out and meditate.
