Yes I did, the brocades and silks and velvets just kept unraveling and I kept coming up short on the dimensions, the matreial was very difficult to work with. I think what I am going to do is cut the remaining material into blocks and make half traingles and just do a patchwork quilt.

I noticed you redid this block in other fabrics. Are you giving up on these?

Love it- that's what I will do too, if it comes out too small! I hate to redo or unsew...

Thanks, I was getting impatient and I remembered a lesson in BOM 2012 suggested a border :)

What a great idea to add the border. I, too, came up short--quite literally. My February block is also only about 8 inches, regardless of how precise I thought I was being with my cutting and 1/4 in seams. I only made 1 of the 3 blocks because I was going to start over. Instead, I will follow your lead and save myself some time and wasted fabric! Thank you for sharing. :)

This was my second attempt, I made the strips 1/2 bigger and STILL came out right above 8 inches. So I cheated with the border. I'm sorry you ahd trouble too but at least I now know I wasn't the only one!

Thank you, I will probably try to do again straighter at some point :)

Gorgeous, and I really like your 'design element'.
