Materials

The blocks and border are the same Japanese Geisha fabric. The repeat is about 24 inches which works great for Kaleiodescope quilts.

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to learn how to do a kaleiodescope quilt and had never done a pinwheel before either. Loved the look of the sample quilt in my local quilt shop so took the class and this is my finished project. Also did flange and piping for the first time too. Lots of first for this quilt. =)

What are you most proud of?

How well the blocks came out. The one that I indicated is my favorite looks like you're looking down on a city of skyscrapers.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I cut my blocks into 4 1/2" strips and then made 4 1/2" blocks which I then cut into half square triangles. instead, I'd cut a 9 inch block going forward and do the sub cutting so that I don't end up with bias edges. The bias edges made the blocks harder to make sure they were all the same size. Of course that goes for all pinwheel quilts for me as I go forward. =)

I love it! Is that "Stack'n'Whack?", or something else? Whatever it is, it's gorgeous! Well done!

Thanks Pat. She didn't have the Stack n Whack book or use that term, but I believe it's the same concept.
