Quilting: Faces

Faces

Instructions

Any classic drawing or picture can be trnsferred to fabric using a product like Printed Treasures and an ink jet printer. Great way to save and display items that may deteriorate over time. Then just trim the picture with a coordinating fabric to set it off and then a wider coordinating fabric for a border. I used the inside border fabric as the binding material.

What was your inspiration?

After my mother died a few years ago, I found drawings of faces that she had done in her late teens and early twenties. They were starting to crumble on the edges so I decided to preserve them by copying them on fabric designed for that purpose. These faces are so classic and I have enjoyed making a variety of projects with these drawings.

What are you most proud of?

These pictures must have been important to my mother to have kept them for nearly 70 years. I am proud to have some of them hanging in my home where people ask about them and I can tell her story.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Very simple to do. Use a darker fabric around the face and again for the binding. I have also done some with no inner border and a wider outer border.
