Instructions
This is a really simple cot quilt pattern, but one that can look quite different depending on the fabric.Squares are 20cm (8 inches), border is squares cut in half (20cm x 10cm strips) and binding is the width of my quilting ruler (8cm/3 inches), folded in half.
Body of the quilt is 4 x 5 blocks.
All figures are applique and counted cross-stitch.

What was your inspiration?
The workmate this was made for is into matrushkya dolls, and I was lucky enough to find a matrushkya print for the back of the quilt. Finding the matrushkya fabric gave me a colour palette, and the gorgeous Kaffe Fassett prints kept the rich, Russian theme. I scanned the backing fabric and enlarged it for the mama, then modified the shape for the papa, baby and cat.
What are you most proud of?
This all fell together really well - I know it's not traditional baby colours, but think it worked. Most importantly - my workmate was thrilled with it :*)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be afraid to use your imagination!
