Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Instructions

Some of my blocks don't quit make 12" so I cut them smaller and give them a bright border. See orange-purple hash mark.

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky

Materials

Batiks

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't worry if your block is too small. Cut it even smaller and give it a contrasting border. Makes it look like its a design element.

Terry, I had trouble with getting my blocks 12 1/2 inches square also. I discovered that if there was a template for the pattern my computer was printing it out at only 98%. Personally, I love the borders on the blocks, bright colors, and batiks. I hope you're having as much fun as I am.

I've decided to standardize all my smaller blocks by making them smaller and adding borders.. I am having a ball with this., and I admit to changing virtually every block. The stripes on my first 2 are half the width, for example. It's a hoot, and everything ends up a different size, hence the borders.

Good advice, and I think it's my favorite block.
