What are you most proud of? I added a handmade polymer clay zipper pull to the main 9 x 12 purse, and a knotted carrying strap to wear purse cross body, or over the shoulder. My favorite way to carry the purse is around my neck--leaving my hands free. I put my Kindle in the purse, pull out my earbuds, put the purse 'round my neck--and off I go for a walk! I had plenty of decorated fabric leftover to make a MATCHING COIN PURSE. I added an o-ring and wristlet connector to small fabric tab on the coin purse. Sometimes you don't want to drag a purse around--and that's when the medium coin purse is perfect. I repeated decorative sewing machine stitches on the wristlet connector. The coin purse is the right size for cash, coin, i.d., and cell phone. How great is that?????

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Learn from the best--take Carol Ann Waugh's online Craftsy course, "Stupendous Stiching" and learn how to decorate fabric YOUR STYLE. Let the fun begin! Leave me a note if you'd like information where to buy the metal wristlet connectors. Set of 50 is quite reasonable and easy to crimp onto a fabric strap you make or on a 1 inch wide woven strap from your favorite sewing supply store.

These are lovely, what a great application of stupendous stitching. I love your polymer buttons that you use. What is involved with making them?

Hi 4Bird. Regarding Polymer Clay Items I Make: Go to PROJECTS. Upper right: type in handmade beads for summer bags, then hit enter. It will be up my original post showing procedure for making beads, buttons, pendants, and zipper pulls. The are really easy to make.

Hi again 4Bird. I purchased a tiny metal jewelry frame and filled it with orange polymer clay. First I conditioned the clay, and rolled out an even sheet of orange polymer using a pasta machine. I cut approximate size square to fit the metal jewelry frame, then added bits and pieces of left over polymer clay of different colors. Bake 275 degrees F for 30 minutes (leaving the clay intact in the jewelry frame. After baking and cooling, I removed polymer square for a moment, in order to add a bit of jewelry glue to the interior of the frame and once again inserted the polymer clay square. I allowed it to dry, then added an metal o-ring to use as a zipper pull. I highly recommend The Art of Polymer Clay by Donna Kato. It will make you an expert on polymer clay techniques in just a few hours. Best wishes to you. Have fun. Thanks for your great comments.
