What materials did you use? Cotton jersey in 3 colors ("peacock", "grape", "midnight"), acrylic craft paint, commercial stencil

What are you most proud of? Not making too much of a mess on the kitchen counter, and getting the stencils removed and repositioned without smudging the fabric paint!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Most of the commercial stencils available at my local crafts store were not suitable for this method, as the shapes and motifs were either too small, too complex, or both. For the reverse applique technique, most or all of the shapes should be large enough to cut away the center about 1/8" inside the edge to reveal the under-layer fabric.

Very nice! Great colors, and I love the bird stencil. Are you thinking of repeating it all over, or just having spot embellishments?

Don't know yet! Ideas are percolating. My Muse leans toward whatever method will require the most work, but perhaps she will go easy on me this time.

Tell your muse to be quiet. I have one just like her and she drives me nuts. ;)

I find choosing colors the most difficult, so many choices....

Love the colors!

Hah! You did not witness the MONTHS of dithering that led up to a color decision. Ended up ordering the sample cards, and it was still tough to choose.

How interesting. I love how you are experimenting. I'm sure whatever you choose will be really beautiful.

Thanks... already I want to make more of these blocks (after I cut out garment pieces!), and combine into a throw or shawl.

Beautiful colors! Were you happy with the paint texture - not too stiff?

The bird stencil is lovely! I do understand the 'color dilemma'!! Even with the color cards it was difficult!! I now have the fabric, but haven't worked out the stencil part yet....decisions, decisions!!
