What was your inspiration?
I had been playing with designing bargello patterns before this and decided to try something with adjusting the vertical offset in different amounts rather than the usual half or full step offset. The result was this little shoulder bag, about ten inches wide.
What are you most proud of?
I love the way that curve at the top and bottom of the bag came out.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The center strip set was cut 2.5 inches wide and the others 1.5 inches so they will finish 2 inches and 1 inch respectively after stitching.. To get a similar curve effect in creating a similar design, draw a curve on graph paper 5 inches long to represent half of the bag, Copy the line in reverse for the other half. Use the graph as a guide to determine exactly how much to offset one strip from the next.
