Instructions

I fussy cut the eagles to fit in the star points. I fed college ruled school paper thru the printed one at a time for the paper piecing patterns. I used brown and dark green hand quilting thread for the pine cone stenciled patterns that I quilted in the setting and corner triangles. I used off white hand quilting thread in the blocks.

Materials

All fabric from my stash; pattern "milmaid's star from "Come to the Fair" by Edie McGinnis: college ruled paper for paper piecing ( load one sheet at a time into the printer) stencil for quilting desing - pine cones from The Stencil Co.; cotton batting; Coats & Clark all purpose and C&C hand quilting thread

What was your inspiration?

I had about 7 yards of fabulous eagle fabric and I loved. I was looking for a pattern that would use it to the best advantage. The Milkmaid's Star was perfect! Paper piecing made accurate construction of the block easier to accomplish.
