Dress Form

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Plus-sized

Style: Casual

Materials

My husband helped me with making my dress form yesterday. It took us 4 hours, but he really tried to make it perfect. It turned out good, but I think we maybe should have left it dry a little more, because in certain areas it wanted to colapse. When I seen it it was like OMG, is that what I look like, no wonder I can fit patterns to myself. I don't like what I see, but it is me. I guess I am kind of shaped like a bubble bee....hence my dress form is now named Bee....

Is this your project? Tell us more!

Yesterday, I actually measured myself as per your instructions. I found that my paper dress form is a little bigger tan me. How could this be as my husand applied to my body. Am I measuring wrong, or should he have applied the paper tighter. It felt like it was tight when he applied the tape. Will this even matter? I would rather my tops be a little bigger than too small.

Mine is a little larger too, which makes sense since it was put on the outside of me. But I since I don't wear tight clothes I have had great sucess using my dressform. I always double check by trying on also

Looks fab. I agree with you, when I saw my "double" I was so surprised. My mental image of what I see in the mirror is totally not a match!
