What was your inspiration?
These blocks are part of a larger project, my in-laws' Christmas gift, which I called a "map." It's made up of blocks representing where they have lived. They were missionaries in Japan for over 24 years, and I was looking for a way to represent this part of their lives.
These Dresdens are very similar to some of depictions of the Chrysanthemum, relevant to the Japanese culture and constantly present in arts and crafts.
What are you most proud of?
Finishing the whole thing!
