What materials did you use? I used material that I had around the house and and old sheet. I made a liner and filled it with cedar chips and a velcro closing and then I made a cover for it.... I have two finished and the dogs love them and they are refillable. Usefull and cedar chips keep bugs off of your dog. Helps fighting fleas.

What are you most proud of? The idea.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you are gonna make this never buy the velcro that has a sticky side because that glue will gum up your needle and it will break. I learned the hard way .......THREE TIMES before I figured out what was happening. Yeah, I know.....>Quick Study.... :-)

LOL, yep I understand the quick study thing !!!! Great idea because they are costly and don't last when you buy them at the store. Did you use a canvas or duck cloth type fabric for the cover??

It is a canvas cotton poly bend, The poly snags over time I have learned so I will go with straight cotton or with much less poly in the next one

Great project! I am interested in making this as I am in animal rescue. However word to the wise, you might want to find a better filler. Cedar chips are a upper respiratory irritant for dogs right down to little critters. ( Actually, strongly scented cedar can bother humans as well -especially asthmatics)Unfortunately, since it is cheap for companies to produce and is an easy sell- people use it to line cages for animals {and stuff doggy nappers-including companies that make pet beds- pillows- nappers}. It is a serious problem and many vets that have seen animals react to it recommend different nappers and litter for cages that house smaller animals. I am sure for those who love their pets, going the extra mile to get something safer is worth it.
