What was your inspiration?

My husband and I wanted a Beatles theme to our wedding (since we are both Beatles fans), so I decided to design our own invitations. I created the design in Adobe Illustrator using elements from many of the Beatles songs, in the black, white and blue colors we had chosen for the wedding (except for the yellow submarine - that has to stay yellow!)

I discovered Spoonflower during the process of planning the wedding, and decided to carry over the design from the invitations to other parts of the wedding through fabric. I created repeating patterns for the fabric which then became table runners, handkerchiefs for the groomsman, ring bearer pillows, lining for the flower girl basket, and even my garter!

What are you most proud of?

I love how we were able to include the invitation motif subtly throughout the ceremony and reception! It really gave the wedding a cohesive, personallized theme! And, best of all, since I did the design work myself, other than the cost of printing fabric and invitations, it was really inexpensive!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you come up with your own wedding invitation design, definitely try to work it into as many aspects of the wedding as possible!
