What materials did you use? 100% cotton quilting fabric, mostly batiks

What are you most proud of? I had planned to copy the fabrics in the pattern exactly, but when I put my own fabrics together, they took me in a different direction. The pattern's fabrics are more muted, and the border is a soft brown. My fabrics are brighter and clearer. The starry black-blue fabric in the star points inspired me to use the same fabric on the border rather than a muted brown, which totally changed the look of this quilt. Now it looks (to me) like bursts of stars on a night-sky background. I'm still learning to trust myself in choosing fabrics, so I'm proud of the fact that I decided to follow my own instincts on this quilt. And I'm very proud of my razor-sharp star points too!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? 1. Sew very precisely on the paper-piecing lines. 2. Leave some extra fabric all around to allow you to trim the blocks slightly larger than the pattern -- you don't want to be forced to nip off the tips of your star points when you sew the blocks together. If all the blocks in the quilt are the same size, it won't matter if they all end up slightly larger than originally intended. ... I made a different quilt top in which the paper pieced blocks were the center of a 9 patch. They ended up slightly larger than the other 8 blocks, and I had to ease them in. The result was that my carefully paper pieced blocks are puffy and distorted. I'm hoping that when I put the quilt sandwich together, the batting will puff them out and fix this problem!
