What was your inspiration?

I needed something to match a maize turtleneck, a scarf, and a dark teal pair of jeans. However, the true inspiration for this piece, and many of my pieces came from a book called "Beaded Colorways" (see pictures). That is my "go to" book when I want real inspiration. Beverly's use and understanding of color is amazing and the projects in her book are highly creative and beautiful. She marries so many jewelry techniques, all of which are bursting with color. "Beaded Colorways" truly resonated with me, and opened my eyes to many possibilities which would not have occurred to me, had I not read this book.

What are you most proud of?

I love the combination of colors, textures, and sparkle.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a labor of love as it is extremely time consuming. This is the third piece of made with this technique. When I put one one, someone always compliments it. Hopefully one day, I will create my version of some of the other styles in Beverly Ash Gilbert's wonderful book.

Thank you so much, Linda. Since I wove it in and out, I'm really not sure. I probably went back and forth maybe 7 or 8 times. It is a wee bit tedious!

Thank you so much. I really like this piece but need to learn how to make it more efficiently. It is labor intensive but I am always pleased with the end result when I employ this technique.

Susan~ It must be the economy~ IDK we had EVERYTHING stolen while my husband was in ICU this last summer...I mean all his tools and ALL electronics out of our house!!! Your right disgusting!!!! It makes you feel so violated and sick that a stranger was in your house and going thru your personal belongings!!! I still hate to leave my house because of it!! I wish I could help her!!

I think you are right about the economy. I had a peeping tom once, he actually built a platform by my window. It takes a while to get over that feeling of violation. I wish I could help her, too. I am sorry about what happened to you, too. I have a show today so I best be getting my "groove on!" We shall hold our mentor in our hearts. Best we can do from where we are at the moment. Take care! By the way, you have posted some wonderfully lovely things. Let's keep lifting each other up. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Thank you! I will have to look for that one. She is one talented lady! She posted on facebook yesterday that her home was broken into yesterday. Awful. She posting pieces of jewelry that were stolen and she was asking people in her area who know of her work to be on the lookout for it at pawn shops, etc. So sad and disgusting. Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate them.
