What was your inspiration?

My mum has just celebrated her 85th birthday last week so as I had already made her a cushion and mug rug for Christmas I knew she would like some more for her sofa.... and well as you all know I do love making cushions!!!!

Inspiration... Amy -Crafsty BOM 2012; Jenny - Quilting Quickly; Piece By Number; Cindy - Design it, Quilt it and Wendy - Machine Quilting, Free Motion and More

What are you most proud of?

My mum is so pleased with them.
I am very pleased with how they turned out and that I got them all finished in time for her birthday.
I especially love the Indian Summer block from piecebynumber.com and I also am very pleased with the spider's web quilting that I did with my walking foot.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Paper piecing is great fun to do, although you really need to concentrate as I left out one of the 'geese' and did not notice until it was completed. It was a bit tricky ripping out part of the stitching and piecing it in but I succeeded.
Disappearing 9 Patch blocks are so versatile I have two variations, one which is cut on the diagonal and I think the spider's web quilting really enhanced the pattern.
I used clear Wonder Invisible Thread for the 'stitch in the ditch' and it was fab, highly recommend it.

Hi Desna - these are beautiful. The colors are so perfect. Nice job for Mum! Have you started the stack and whack yet? Can you at least post a picture of the fabric you chose? I'm so curious. Haven't been on line much, lots going on in my family. AND......none of my classes will load, including the new one from Camille that I am so excited about. Working with customer service but not happy. Only consolation is I'm not the only one, so I hope they can get the bugs out soon.... Happy Spring - we are all the way up to 30 degrees today. BRRRRRRR

Thanks and yes mum loves them:) Eek.... I have not done any stack-n-whack as yet but must do some after Easter. I have been busy making cushions for my mum and daughters. Then I have been teaching quilting to two of my church friends and some other friends at the w'ends. Thanks for reminding me and giving me the little nudge ha! ;)

Nicely made. Your mom will cherish them, nothing quite like a handmade gift.

Your pillows are lovely. I especially like your quilting. I have been practicing my free motion quilting for quite and while and hope that I can achieve what you have.

love the colour choices and beautiful fabrics. Did you paper piece the cushions? I have yet to start my course but your quilting on the cushions is lovely. Very inspiring.

Thanks, the fabrics are all from my stash, cushions are great for using them up. I paper pieced the Circle of Geese and the Indian Summer blocks. I now love paper piecing.
