What was your inspiration?
My mum has just celebrated her 85th birthday last week so as I had already made her a cushion and mug rug for Christmas I knew she would like some more for her sofa.... and well as you all know I do love making cushions!!!!
Inspiration... Amy -Crafsty BOM 2012; Jenny - Quilting Quickly; Piece By Number; Cindy - Design it, Quilt it and Wendy - Machine Quilting, Free Motion and More
What are you most proud of?
My mum is so pleased with them.
I am very pleased with how they turned out and that I got them all finished in time for her birthday.
I especially love the Indian Summer block from piecebynumber.com and I also am very pleased with the spider's web quilting that I did with my walking foot.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Paper piecing is great fun to do, although you really need to concentrate as I left out one of the 'geese' and did not notice until it was completed. It was a bit tricky ripping out part of the stitching and piecing it in but I succeeded.
Disappearing 9 Patch blocks are so versatile I have two variations, one which is cut on the diagonal and I think the spider's web quilting really enhanced the pattern.
I used clear Wonder Invisible Thread for the 'stitch in the ditch' and it was fab, highly recommend it.
