I made a throw pillow case with this stitch using a very fine thread, now I'm crocheting another with a thicker cotton yarn and it's going great! It's easy once you get the hang of it.
I love this project. Thanks for sharing. I have wanted to make this for a long time and I just haven't got the guts. I'm glad you said it was pretty simple. I have made a lot of other projects with this stitch and I love it.
Allo
C'est super magnifique et c'est ennuyeux que je ne parle pas l ,anglais ou lire j,adore tricoter je ne peux pas m,acheter le patron mais je le trouve si beau flicitation
She says, "Hello, it is super, magnificent and it's difficult because she can not speak or read english." She says she loves knitting but can not purchase the pattern but she finds it quite beautiful. I don't know what the last word means in French.
My husband's favorite stitch. Have made hats, hood, warmers, and shawls. Wished I would have known about your instructions before I spent many hours figuring out how to do stitch. It is easy once you figure out how to turn piece as each scale is made. This is one of my favorites.
hi, can you please tell me what thread did you use please, I am trying to make with wool, but as I am making all the petals are curling, could please help
Hi all! If you are interested in learning how to make this shawl, and also on how to modify the pattern to make a necklace, sandals and scarf, I'm now hosting a Workshop here on Craftsy on this design. The workshop gives you step-by-step pictures, the pattern, and full access to me ;-). You can ask away anything about the design, as if we were in a classroom! I'd love to see you in my workshop! Here is the link: http://www.craftsy.com/workshop/cat/crocheting
Great, Loretta! You'll see it is one of those mindless projects. You'll memorize the pattern quickly and be able to carry this project with you everywhere.
Mable kropog, keep trying. At first I wasn't able to get it either. But once you do get it you will be amazed at how easy it is. To all the leftys. Go to youtube geek. Teresa has a great tutorial. Happy crocheting.
@ pinkcaddy39696: If you purchased my pattern, I include a photo tutorial and I'm also available to give you pattern support. Please email me at bonitapatterns and I can walk you through your questions.
@ Mable Kropog: If you purchased my pattern, please email me at bonitapatterns and I can walk you through your questions. I'm sure that if we work together, you'll get it right ;-).
I agree with kitten_on, I had trouble getting the crocodile stitch when I did the baby hat, but on the second round (oh about the 15th "petal") it just clicked. After that it was easy. I almost felt silly for not getting it sooner. Stick with it. The "turning" the stitch part threw me off, but it made sense eventually.
this is beautitiful. I thought I was totally well versed in all aspects of crochet stitches. This is probably why I love knitting & crochet. There is always something new to learn.
I've made several items using her crocodile stitch patterns and all have turned out wonderfully. I'm left-handed so I have to think about it a little bit.
rnfry0008, awwwwwww thank you so much for your adorable comment! I'm glad you liked my patterns. I hope some day to be able to incorporate instructions for my lefties crocheters. I'd love your to get your input on what you adjustments you'd suggest. When you have a chance, I would like to hear your recommendations by email: bonitapatterns@gmail.com.
I havent done anything with the stitch though Im seeing it everywhere. I have the same question every time I see it used. Does the stitch require a lot more yarn?
If you got the pattern for the shawl and need help, just drop me a line at bonitapatterns@gmail.com. Also, if you don't have it yet, I'll be soon hosting a workshop for this shawl here on Craftsy and the way it is put together, you have every single step to follow in pictures... it's like we if were crocheting it together. It should be up soon. Keep an eye on it.
Thank you venabelle0070! It's a very cozy and warm shawl too. The only danger that you might have quite a few people interested in touching it to feel the texture while you're wearing it ;-)
Diane, you can learn lots about the Croc Stitch with my patterns. My entire collection is available at www.bonitapatterns.etsy.com and you can also get my book with some of the designs at Annie's Attic. My book is called "Crocodile Stitch Fashions". They offer it in print and electronic downloads.
By the way, I will be soon hosting a workshop on this Crocodile Stitch Shawl Pattern and I will include lots of tips on how to make various items out of this one pattern.
To anyone intersted - I did the workshop on the crocodile stitch baby hat. AWESOME! I'm sort of a novice and I found the intructions easy to understand, the chat forum was helpful and the images were a lifesaver! I highly recommend bonitapatterns workshops.
I have crochet couple of this shawls using this pattern. It is like crocheting 2 shawls
Lots of time consuming and uses up lots of yarn. But, at the end it is gorgeous
I have couple of them in my shop for sale, take a peak

I agree Joanies. Particularly when making shawls, the right choice of yarn is of the utmost importance. I personally prefer shawls there are light on might shoulders and can drape well. I took a great time to experiment yarns for this shawl. I'm happy to have an understanding husband, supportive of my yarn "experimentations" ;-).
What's not to love about this shawl! It's got shading, it's got texture. Fringe! Long-time knitter, beginning crocheter. May be above my skill level right now!
Wow...that's wonderful....I thought maybe you were just an Annie's Attic fan like myself. I think your designs are great...and very worthy of Annie's Attic!
Kay, thank you so much for your sweet compliment. I was very flattered when the Crochet editor of Annie's Attic offered me a book deal. Most of all, the other day when Annie Potter (the founder) sent me a friend request on my Facebook, I almost fainted. She's such an icon in crochet designing! I hope you try my patterns ;-).
Yes, because I am Lianka Azulay, the author of the Crocodile Stitch Fashions listed on the Annies Attic catalog. I also sale my single patterns through my business: Bonita Patterns.
Stormy721, I was able to track your order, and your pattern was sent to you on the same day of your purchase to your Yahoo email account. Please check your spam/junk mail folder. Sometimes email providers filter messages. I forwarded a copy of the original message I sent to you to the same Yahoo email address. Please let me know if you are receiving my messages.
Hello I ordered the pattern for this crocodile pattern shawl, paid for it a few days ago and I am not for sure but I haven't received it via email as of yet, can you help me find out how to get the copy of the pattern.
esto es un patron que yo he hecho y vendo en mi tienda online. El patrn es en ingles, pero hay muchas fotos en las instrucciones. La direccin de mi tienda es: www.bonitapatterns.etsy.com
I recieved a correction on one of the patterns from my order, but have not received my order, strange. It has been just about 24 hours since I placed the order so you are hearing from me.
Mikkizee, I usually sent patterns within hours, minutes of purchases are completed. However I had an avalanche of orders yesterday and I've been doing my best to fulfill them within 24 hours of purchase. I truly apologize for your wait. You made such a grandiose order! I am sending you a gift to compensate you for the extra wait. I hope you still like me ;-).
Absolutely gorgeous and what an awesome color!!!! Only a novice right now....only know the granny square from watching my Nana when I was young. Never did anything else. Don't know what kind of pattern to start normal things(beginner), that I could just add one different stitch and make an entirely different thing. If that makes sense at all. lol. I love the flower coasters also. If I could make them and make a round hat(for example), if it was the same stitch. I could add the flower to the hat!!
Angelina, do not fear. This stitch is not that hard. If you can make a granny square, I'm sure you can make this. Also, I include a photo tutorial on my patterns to help you with the trickier steps. Moreover, I'd gladly give you pattern support and walk you through if you need help.
angelina61561, do not fear. This is quite a adventurous beginner project. It is really not hard, and I include lots of photos in the patterns. Moreover, I am always available for pattern support. If you can crochet a granny square, you can crochet this shawl.
Such a lovely and unique looking project. Will make it as a gift, after making one for me to make sure I know what I'm doing. How about a different color combination?
I made this in Patons Lace and they have some very interesting colorways on this yarn. I specially like the Sachet, which has tones of greens and purple, and Midas which is a colorway of browns.
I had quite a lot of customers tonight. Perhaps when you tried it was all sold out. Please try again at bonitapatterns.etsy.com or if send me an email at bonitapatterns@gmailcom and I'll make sure you get the pattern.
You can order this pattern at bonitapatterns.etsy.com and you can also email me at bonitapatterns@gmail.com. I can give you several tips on comparable yarns
You can save the page that this pattern is represented on but you have to click on the title "crocodile stitch shawl" to got the webpage of the person who is selling it in order to get it.
I include lots of pictures in my photo tutorials, so even if you are in doubt with the written descriptions, you can still clarify your doubts by looking at the pics. Moreover, you can always contact me and I will walk you through it.
Is there another type of yarn that you would recommend instead of mohair since i am allergic to wool? Thank you. Your design is absolutely beautiful & can't wait to make the shawl.
