What materials did you use? Approximately 23 meters of silk satin and silk organza, guipure lace for wedding dress and taffeta lining and silk organza for petticoat

What are you most proud of? The dress looked so beautiful on my daughter, the silk moved so gracefully and had such a lovely lustre.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Give yourself plenty of time. I also made the 2 bridesmaid dresses ( short royal blue silk retro) and a pink silk jacket for myself in about 9 weeks. I made an ironing sleeve for the seams out of an old broomstick laid on a flat long piece of wood, covered in quilt wadding and then covered with calico. I used a piece of silk organza as an ironing cloth. I found that the silk satin required very little ironing after the initial seams were ironed, just a gentle steam before she put it on. Thanks also to the Sewing with Silks class - Linda Lee
