What materials did you use? All 100% cotton

What are you most proud of? I traded the full gathered skirt on the pattern for the one I used in the couture class. Not a big deal for some of you smart sew girls but huge for me to have the confidence and ability to make that work. Who needs all that gathered bulk around your waist anyway.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Here is my list of improvements 1. I found tracing the size smaller lines on the pattern made a great start for my sewing lines. No marking in 5/8 on the pattern saved time and was more accurate. 2. I purchased heavier muslin that gave me a more structured piece to work with and fit. Really helped and gave me much better results. 3. I cant lie I sewed the underpinning on that big old skirt with the machine this time. It turned out great. 4. I still struggle with what to use for a lining. I like cotton and can't get over spending more on a silk lining then fashion fabric. However, I used broadcloth this time and its not so great.

Great you got back at it! All finished. How's the fit? What's the next project? Really like your pattern choice. Just may have to add pattern to my stash.

What a sweet dress! Thanks for the comments above. Very helpful to me. I'm so proud of your adaptation! I've been sewing a long time but chicken out when it comes to modifying anything. I'm still working on my first dress. It is in the muslin stage and I might remake it in one size smaller to avoid having to do so much altering. Am looking forward to your next project.

You stay with it, that class helped me so much. I will never sew the same again, I even place my pins in a different direction, who knew!
