What materials did you use? Quilting cottons, Valdani variegated threads (35 wt.)

What are you most proud of? I like my quilting in the stars (fern-type leaves on every-other point) and the center (holly leaves and berries). The variegated thread in the red border turned out very pretty, too.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Stay on the lines when you piece the stars, and it'll all come together accurately.

I know what you mean. I stippled the white and green backgrounds because I was in a hurry, but wish I'd done something more creative at least in the green. I liked the way the "oysters" design worked out on the red outer border, as well as the fern leaves on the stars. Go for it!

Thanks. I think the center square is a good spot for my Mom's centerpiece, and the stars will hang off nicely.
