Christmas Stockings

Boston Stocking

Boston Stocking

Instructions

This is a pattern I made years ago. I've made more of them than I can count. It's easy to make your own pattern for this or you can purchase something similar.

I can make one for you, too. They are a custom order so are not on my etsy sit.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Unisex

Style: Traditional, Classic, Whimsical, Cute, Holiday, Casual

Materials

Mostly cottons but you can use anything for these. They have fleece padding & a lining, as well.

What was your inspiration?

I think kids should have a special stocking that they use year after year. I made one from baby clothes. I made another pattern for a dog's stocking that I made with a big paw print.

What are you most proud of?

They stand up very well year after year & look good hanging on the mantle.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't use ribbon for your hanging loop. I use a piece of double fold bias. You could put a BMW in these stockings and the mantle would fall down before the stocking would.

I love the Boston team logos. Where can you get those?

The only one embroidered out here is the Red Sox one, for the Bruins I just used a Boston B in Bruins colors & the other 2 are scraps of fabric. I got the RS from Sylvia's Threads but she no longer sells it. Some others you can get on etsy.
