What was your inspiration?
This was a gingerbread holiday scene gifted to a client which was made on a large piece of styrofoam. Department 56 and Kurt Adler accessories were added to complete the scene. The house had a nightlight mounted inside so that the interior would light up. Everything else was traditional gingerbread, candies and royal icing.
What are you most proud of?
How much the client enjoyed the gift ;)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Start with small gingerbread projects - read everything you can on gingerbreading and then experiment with what works in your kitchen. I always overbaked the gingerbread for stability and advised those receiving my projects not to eat them (as I also used hot glue and paint on the projects).
