What was your inspiration?
I'd designed a similar bargello and made it as a wall hanging previously, and decided to use strips just half the width of the wall hanging to make into a narrower project as a Christmas runner. I also tried out combining a gold metallic polyester fabric among the cottons for the first time.
What are you most proud of?
The metallic gave the item a totally different look and wasn't nearly as difficult to work with as I'd anticipated. I was also quite pleased with how the design looked with the different proportions from my original design.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Bargello is incredibly fun to design. Just get out your graph paper or computer design program and give it a shot.
