Style: Cute, Casual, Outdoorsy, Whimsical

Materials

Fleece,(for the back) Thermal and cotton materials - batting - (low-loft), thread - sewing supplies & tools.

What was your inspiration?

My co-worker's son. I wanted to make a little nap pad for him to use - using a 9-square patchwork pattern. I also made another one - with a "Moo Cow" theme in 2005 - using strips - I made for my niece (see pictures).

What are you most proud of?

How nice it looks and how well she liked it. I don't do much in boy's colors - usually I like the light pastels and pinks - more for girls than boys.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Anything is possible. I just used a few scraps and made the squares to fit the size of the fleece that I had left over from another project and this is the result. I would advise using a high-loft batting - as it will be used for lying on the floor - just to make it softer and more comfy. I did not have any at the time I made these, so I had to make do with what I had on hand.
