Cotton flannels

What was your inspiration?

My girlfriend had a lot of flannels that were just sitting in her stash so I volunteered to make a quilt so I could gain some more experience using flannels and she would have a quilt to either donate or give away.

What are you most proud of?

The machine binding and getting all the points of the stars straight. I used my domestic sewing machine for the quilting.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Flannels are more difficult to work with than cottons because it can stretch and there are different qualities of flannel. Some are thick and some are thin. Some are straight and some are crooked. Choose an easy pattern, preferably one without points. Use a new needle and clean your machine when you're finished.

So pretty, Arlene. You really have a way with choosing fabrics. It's become one of my favorite parts of quilting. I just printed this pattern. Thanks so much for the idea, and thanks for sharing your pretty quilts.
