Can you tell us about any special equipment or techniques that you used? Canon 7d

Though not an intimate landscape, many of the ideas in the class apply to a bird photo like this. It is always important to pay attention to the background, even if it is not sharp. Notice how much is right behind the bird, including a branch growing out of its head. If you were to move just a little to the left when taking this shot, you would put the bird against the simple gray background to the right of the bird and this would make the composition clear and with fewer distractions around the bird. There are many contrasts in this image, but they are all related. When contrasts go together (they are all either part of the tree or the bird), then the composition is more unified and easier to understand.
