Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Thread Art »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Casual, Whimsical

Materials

cotton fabric, cotton thread, prisma color pencils, textile medium

What was your inspiration?

My inspiration was a photo I took of my daughter and I. This was one of the first photos I took where we were both smiling and she was actually looking at the camera.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud that it actually resembles the original photo, and also that I did something in the background. I have done similar fiber art from a photo before, but never used colored pencils on it or filled in the background with quilting.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just go for it! See it through to the end. At the very least, your creative aptitude will grow!

love it - especially the way you did the eyes and mouth.

Very realistic. Wasn't sure what I was going to use as my project but now I have an idea. Thanks for sharing.

No, I don't think it was hard, but it did take a me just not worrying about it so much and seeing it through to the end. I have a tendency to question my own abilities when it comes to this sort of thing. I heard a great quote the other day: "Perfection is the enemy of greatness". Keep that in mind and just accept it as a learning experience. We are our own worst critics!

Lisa7337 it is really not hard to do this. All you have to do is believe that you can, follow the steps that I have outlined, ask any questions you may have on your journey and then....Bingo will happen.
