What was your inspiration?
This was made as a first birthday present for my friend's son. I was looking for a hockey quilt when I found this pattern. It's so visually stunning, I just had to take it on! The pattern is for a large quilt (72" x 84"). I wanted a baby sized quilt, so I converted all the 6" blocks into 3" blocks and reduced the applique pieces with the help of my copier.
What are you most proud of?
This quilt has every thing! paper piecing, strip piecing, triangles, squares, fussy cutting, applique. It was a real challenge to put such a wide variety of skills to use in one quilt. But I just love the results!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This one might take you longer than you think. It certainly took me longer than usual! There are a lot of different techniques involved. Take your time with it!
