I made the large size (21.5" band) & added a little 2.5 inch piece of elastic inside at the back center to make sure it fits well and also serves as a loop to hang the hat.Also, rather than "pinching" the top in sections & sewing closed, I simply gathered it then added a pearl bead because I love embellishments! Inside is a little silver heart that says "made with love".

What are you most proud of?
It's soft & slouchy & hip. I made the band adjustable so am sure it will fit well.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I used special yarn & had a limited supply so I made the first row of clusters the 9-loop puff stitch as per the pattern, then I used a 6-loop puff for the rest to save yarn. It worked out just as well and I had plenty of yarn to complete it.
