What was your inspiration?
I was watching a show about different ways to dress an outfits that was featuring ponchos. I got carried away making a lacy cape/poncho with different edgings.
What are you most proud of?
I love the way this turned out and that it can be worn in different ways. The fabric created is quite stretchy, so it can be worn as a V-neck, stretched across the shoulders, or even turned sideways. I thought the beaded version added a fun dimension to the cape also!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you love working with thread, this is the perfect project for the intermediate crocheter.
The cape is worked in rounds from the neck down, beginning with a series of hdc clusters instead of a long foundation ch.
The finished dimensions (based on a 30" neck opening) are: 13-1/8", 16" and 18-7/8" arm length; and 18-1/4", 22-1/4", and 26-1/4" center length. An option for a smaller (26-1/2") neck opening is also provided.
A detailed graph is included for reference.
This pattern is available for $4.50 and is written in U.S. terms.
